Photographer Acacia Johnson grew up in Alaska with an enthusiastic pilot dad flying her family around its vast backcountry. A love of the outdoors finds repeated expression in her work, from her earliest essays exploring Alaska’s landscapes, to expeditions in Antarctica, to documentary projects among indigenous peoples of the Canadian Arctic. Conservation efforts also led her to photograph wildlife as icons of threatened ecosystems.
